Steam Deck Beta Client Update: October 16th

Note: This update is for the Steam Deck Beta and Preview channels, and includes new features that are still being tested. You can opt into this in Settings > System > System Update Channel.

The Steam Client Beta has been updated with the following changes:

Steam Overlay

Fix not being able to complete in-game purchases in some games from a regression in the Beta Client released on Oct 13.

Steam Input

Fix for opting into or out of Steam Input on the configurator page not updating the configuration until the next time the configurator was opened
New Experimental Gyro Mode : "Gyro to Joystick (Camera)". This mode re-uses concepts from the Gyro To Mouse system, including Natural Sensitivity, but outputs to Joystick instead of Mouse. It also has the option to "Catch Up" to your desired in game angles in the case of excessively fast gyro rotations exceeding the Maximum Turn Rate. This will replace the old Gyro->"As Joystick" once there is feature parity.

SteamOS 3.5.1 Preview Update: October 12th

Note: This update is for the Steam Deck Preview channel, and includes new features that are still being tested. You can opt into this in Settings > System > System Update Channel.

General

Fixed a case where an SD card with filesystem errors would be mounted as read-only.
Fixed the custom performance overlay presets file inheriting the default settings from the steam presets.
Fixed internal display rotation being erroneously reported to the game.

Firmware 118

Actually added undervolting controls.

External display

Fixed a 3.5 regression with HDMI output.
Fixed a long-standing issue where the internal display backlight would always stay on.
Fixed bug with HDR applications showing in wrong colorspace if they moved their window during swapchain creation.
Fixed HDR not working in 32-bit applications.
Added HDR Analysis to developer settings.
Disabled HDR exposure in "My Little Pony: A Maretime Bay Adventure" as it enables it without rendering in HDR.

Desktop Mode

Fixed a case where the desktop could be empty and apps would fail to launch.
Fixed a bug where switching to the Plasma Desktop transition could result in broken colors.

Steam Deck Beta Client Update: October 10th

New "Laser Pointer" Gyro 3DOF to 2D Conversion mode: The Cursor is driven up, down, left and right due to an imaginary ray pointing out of the front of the controller/through the SteamDeck Screen. This mode is most appropriate for mouse cursor movement/UI interaction.
Fix for SteamDeck Gyro offset angle defaults being set incorrectly.
Minor UI tidying.
