Steam Deck Beta Client Update: June 9th

Note: This update is for the Steam Deck Beta and Preview channels, and includes new features that are still being tested. You can opt into this in Settings > System > System Update Channel.

Steam Deck Desktop

Fixed the "Enable GPU accelerated rendering" setting failing to disable GPU accelerated rendering.
Fixed chat windows not becoming the focused window when clicking on a notification toast or the friends list
Fixed clipped window controls when the small mode window is made very narrow

Steam Deck Beta Client Update: June 8th

Fixed issue where after a client restart, notifications that were already viewed are displayed again as new
Fixed some issues where navigation history would get out of sync when using the forward and back buttons
Server Browser - You can now add a favorite server by IP address
Fixed hang streaming a game from a Linux computer
Double-clicking the Steam icon in the system tray will now open to the default Steam window (as specified in Settings > Interface)
Improved performance of the interface in the overlay when animated Steam avatars are enabled
Fixed taskbar icons not grouping together.

Steam Deck Beta Client Update: June 6th

Fixed Steam Linux Runtime compatibility tools not being installed to support a title in some cases.

Steam Input

Put Nintendo Switch controllers into simple mode when Steam Input isn't active. This also turns off the home LED when in simple mode, as users expect.
Gyroscope as Joystick/DPad/Buttons/Lean were using yaw correction-to-the-average-heading, causing subtle drift over time, especially in games which involved a lot of turning in one direction (driving games, flight sims). This was also used in GetMotionData (Steam Input API) affecting titles which used the sensor fusion quaternion for aiming. The correction toward the average has now been removed.
Deferred Sensor Fusion: Accelerometer correction (i.e. pitch correction from gravity sensors) for these modes is applied opportunistically - when the controller is rotating fast, or the controller is stationary (determined by stationary noise tolerances in the calibration page). This reduces noticeable "ouija effect" during fine aiming in our experiments. Note, none of the above gyro changes affect "Gyro As Mouse", which only uses Gyroscope readings, not Accelerometer.
The top allowed noise threshold for gyroscope in the Gyro Calibration page has been increased 3 fold to allow abnormally noisy gyroscopes to pass the drift correction/calibration process.

Desktop Mode

Fixed an error trying to delete a local screenshot from the game details page.
Fixed incorrect pending wallet balance.
Fixed an issue that led to incorrect menu positions.
Fixed incorrect file type options being selected by default when setting custom artwork for a game.
Rearranged and reworded several items on the friends list context menu to make them more clear.
Fixed the friend menu causing a black bar on the underlying chat or group window in some cases.

Steam Deck Beta Client Update: June 1st

Fixed a issue that could result in "Steam Deck can't reach the Steam servers" errors when resuming from sleep.
Fixed inability to click on Steam notification toasts (eg. wishlist, comment).

Desktop Mode

Fixed an issue that prevented the main client window from being resized or moved.
Added a setting to let a user decide whether Ready to Play should include streaming and whether the local computer should be the default in details. This defaults to true on desktop and false on Steam Deck.
Fixed hotkeys not getting set properly on Linux and Mac.
Fixed game list unnecessarily flickering to top when selecting a game that's in a collection.
Fixed achievements icon not being greyed out when the achievements button is disabled.
Fixed inability to click on notifications when the overlay is up.
Fixed images pasted into game notes becoming broken when there was more than one image in the note.

Steam Input

Fixed Joystick Dead Zones in Calibration Screen triggering a controller-specific default to be used when a game was launched, instead of the value specified.
Fix for gyro Smoothing settings not updating when switching to shifted modes.

SteamNetworkingSockets

Fixed bugs preventing causing plain UDP connections to fail with authentication disabled

Steam Deck OS Stable Update 3.4.8: May 31st

SteamOS 3.4.8 has just been released to the Stable channel as an update to all Deck users. The update contains the following changes:

Updated graphics driver with a fix for a GPU crash in Splitgate
Updated the graphics driver with performance improvements for STAR WARS Jedi: Survivor
